These educational videos are primarily intended for healthcare workers at hospitals, surgery centers and other healthcare facilities that provide patient care services. These videos, which range in length from 3-6 minutes, are focused on preventing infections in hospitals.

Rationale
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality. More than 99,000
lives are lost to HAIs each year across the United States, making healthcare associated infections the fourth leading cause of death.
Many HAIs occur because healthcare workers fail to adhere to basic hand hygiene and infection control practices. Healthcare education has a major and pivotal role in improving the hygiene behaviors in our healthcare workers. Important infection control messages need to be delivered in an accessible and useful format that positively impacts the behavior of healthcare workers.
This interesting and memorable video course was designed from the ground up to educate healthcare workers, patients and family members and to create a culture of healthcare safety that enhances our efforts to reduce the incidence of HAIs.

Intended Audience
These educational videos are targeted to healthcare workers at hospitals, surgery centers and other healthcare facilities that provide patient care services.

Learning Objectives
After reviewing all the videos, the learner should be able to:

• Describe the impact of healthcare infections on families and lives.
• Describe how pathogens can be spread in the process of providing care.
• Describe how a culture of safety can help to prevent infection.
• Identify who is responsible for infection prevention.
• Apply skills to confront other healthcare workers not complying with basic infection control measures.
• Describe to patient family members the principles of contact isolation and how to don a gown, wash hands and use gloves.
